China Southern deploys mostly Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft on these routes. Both offer fairly modern business class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, so you won’t have to climb over seat neighbors. The seats themselves differ:
- Boeing 787-9: Vantage XL seat, the same as used by airlines such as SAS, Qantas, & EVA Air.
- Airbus A350-900: Recaro CL6710 seat, the same as used by TAP.
Occasionally, a Boeing 777 is also used for flights to Australia, which also features lie-flat seats, but of a different type (Stelia Solstys). In order to get the best price in some dates you will need an overnight stay or a long layovers but China Southern provides a free transit hotel, with a room per passenger in business class.
Most Europeans need a visa to enter Australia. You can apply for the visa online. It’s best to apply at least 1 month before travelling. The visa is free.
Search & Book
This deal doesn’t have an expiration date. A minimum stay of six days or a Saturday overnight stay, and a maximum stay of three months apply. Departures are available from January through June 2026. For London you also can book in September and October 2026.
You can find suitable dates using our calendar above or with the help of Google Flights. We recommend booking directly on China Southern’s website, but you can find cheaper prices with trip.com. However, booking on OTAs has its downsides.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
Editor’s Note: China Southern has been surprising us with offers in recent months, especially with their arrivals in Madrid and deals from Luxembourg, in both economy and business class. With this deal, you can save a couple of thousand euros to go down under compared to other airlines on the same dates.

This ticket is issued in booking class I. Here are the miles and points you can earn from this deal from Madrid to Brisbane:
